A few weeks ago in nutrition group, Westlake PHP clients were asked to identify a principle of Intuitive Eating that resonates with them and create visual representations of them.
Intuitive Eating sounds simple, but it takes practice to understand and practice all 10 of its principles in sequential order. Early in ED recovery, Intuitive Eating is really not accessible; it’s not possible to truly honor hunger and respect fullness without first honing the recovery skills embedded in the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating.
1. Reject the Diet Mentality
2. Honor Your Hunger
3. Make Peace with Food
4. Challenge the Food Police
5. Discover the Satisfaction Factor
6. Feel Your Fullness
7. Cope with Your Emotions with Kindness
8. Respect Your Body
9. Movement—Feel the Difference
10. Honor Your Health—Gentle Nutrition

EDs tend to find loopholes and ways to manipulate the intention to eat intuitively in order to maintain their control. Our dietitians support clients via structured meal plans, culinary education and holistic nutritional care, creating a strong foundation for the practice of Intuitive Eating.
